Proud to announce our next release, a 12” by Oakland’s Roman Ruins titled Homebuilding. We have pressed only 250 copies of this beauty on translucent milky white vinyl. The vinyl edition also is cut as a continuous A-side and B-side to highlight how the tracks were created.
Homebuilding is the debut album by 31 year-old Oakland-based songwriter and producer Graham Hil (Roman Ruins). Hill is an architect and landscape designer, with a thirst for methodical and process-oriented craft. Since 2008, Hill has played drums on tour with Beach House and Papercuts, and contributed to the recording of the former’s critically lauded album, Teen Dream. The music on Homebuilding creates a sense of home, lyrically exploring the range of bonds that hold families together. Hill began constructing these songs while on tour in Europe in early 2010, daydreaming in the van about his pregnant wife at home. Following the birth of their son that summer, it became clear that Hill was ushering in a family of songs about the process of growing a home, both architecturally and spiritually.
The record will be released on February 28th, you can now pre-order the album. All pre-orders will receive the MP3 files before the release date.

After getting to catch Primary Structures live last week (which was an absolute pleasure), I started playing some of their older recordings and thought I’d share a track off the Volunteer Pioneer EP that came out a while back. I just loved this EP and imagine you will as well.

This track also appears on our free MP3 sampler, which you can grab here.
Fox Hands is another project by Todd Webb, the talented dude behind Seamonster. It’s certainly more sampled-based and electronic-leaning, he’s got a penchant for creating a weird fall-sounding landscape. There are two official EP’s out and plans for a cassette on the new Crash Symbols label. Here’s the title track off the latest EP.
Also just found out that Todd has sold out of his stack of the Seamonster Two Birds 7”, there are still a few available here.
